A man facing a murder charge in connection to the shooting death of a woman in far northeast Dallas told police he accidentally shot a gun during a struggle...
told police he “accidentally” shot a gun during a struggle with her, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained byAbout 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dallas officers responded to a shooting call in the 11500 block of Plano Road and found a woman in a parking lot who had been shot. The woman, whom the Dallas County medical examiner’s office later identified as 41-year-old Crystal Nacole Daniels, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Speaking with police, Alshabli initially said the sedan seen at the scene was stolen from him while he was delivering food for DoorDash earlier in the day. He later changed his story to “tell the truth” after police confronted him with “potential evidence” that implicated him, according to the affidavit.Alshabli told police he had twice given the Daniels a ride in the area, though he said he did not know her name.
While driving, a pickup pulled up behind them as Alshabli drove. He worried he was being followed, so he decided he would not have sex with Daniels, he told police. Alshabli gave Daniels $10 and asked her to exit the vehicle — a request he said she refused, according to the affidavit. Walking outside of the sedan and around to the passenger side, Alshabli opened the door. As he did, he told police he “fired off a round into the ground by accident.” He then pointed the gun at Daniels and demanded she exit the vehicle, according to the affidavit.Alshabli told police Daniels then grabbed the gun and pulled it toward her. The gun then “accidentally went off” in the struggle, hitting her in the head, according to the affidavit.
