The Astros manager took in the Rockets-Kings game from his seats as a Sacramento Kings season ticket holder, a distinction he's held since taking over the tickets from his father, who died in 2009.

Baker, whose offseason home is about 30 minutes from Sacramento's Golden 1 Center, does closely follow the Rockets, who have the worst record in the league afterIn an appearance on the Rockets' pregame show on AT&T SportsNet, he astutely pointed out the team's need for a victory during a challenging stretch in the schedule.

"They've got to win a couple games, because this is a tough road trip for them," Baker said of the Rockets' West coast trip that has them playing the Kings twice, the Clippers and Lakers."I'm pulling for them and I like them a lot." Baker often talks about listening for words of wisdom from his father when Astros games get tight. He said he's given Rockets coach Stephen Silas, whose, the same guidance. Paul Silas won three NBA championships as a player with the Celtics and SuperSonics and was an NBA head coach for 12 seasons and an assistant for 11.

"The advice I gave him after his dad died was just talk to your dad. Sometimes you’ll hear him talking to you," Baker said."He knows what to do and his dad knew what to do.
