Libby Titus, the singer-songwriter best known for her song “Love Has No Pride” and later became the wife of Steely Dan’s Donald Fagen, died Sunday at the age of 77.. “My beautiful wife, Libby Titus Fagen, passed on October 13th surrounded by family,” he wrote. “Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts, and for respecting our privacy at this time.”
Titus’ short career saw two solo albums – both titled “Libby Titus” – in 1968 and 1977. The first album included covers of such songs as, “The Fool on the Hill” and ”You Didn’t Have to Be So Nice.” The second album, which was more high profile, included four songs co-written by Titus and a list of producers that included Paul Simon, Robbie Robertson, Carly Simon and Phil Ramone.
The Woodstock, New York, native appeared as a musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” on Oct. 15, 1977, during the show’s third season. Tiitus’ first marriage was to Barry Titus. After her relationship with Helm, she then married Fagen in 1993, when he released the solo album, “Kamakiriad.”
