ABC has renewed the series for yet another year, extending the show and continuing to make it the longest-running primetime medical drama in American television, and the longest-running scripted primetime show in ABC’s history, although not the longest-running program in ABC’s history, which goes to General Hospital. The show originally premiered back in 2005, and was created by Shonda Rhimes. The show follows the ongoings of the lives of interns, residents, and patients at the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital . The show has featured a ton of stars throughout its history, but three — Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens Jr. — have been with the show since its start. Grey’s Anatomy has been well received by critics for pretty much its entire run. The show has also been nominated for countless awards, including 38 Primetime Emmy Award nominations. The show continues to be extremely popular as well.
