The Yankees and Tigers began a four-game series on Monday night at Comerica Park.
These benchings apparently were the start of a new role for Bader in the final 5 ½ weeks of his walk season to free agency:That’s presumably what Bader was told on Monday afternoon when he was called into the manager’s office for a little chat about his playing time.Obviously, but Boone’s center fielder last Friday and on Monday night was Isiah Kiner-Falefa, another free agent after the season.
For now, the plan is for Bader to see significant action and he’ll start Tuesday when the Tigers start a left-hander.Dominguez probably won’t be one of the Yankees’ two call-ups when rosters expand to 28 players on Friday, but the 20-year-old switch-hitter is becoming a strong candidate for a recall at some point in September.
Regardless of whether Dominguez gets a first call-up, Bader’s Yankees days probably are numbered, as he’s a longshot to be back next year on a new contract short or long.
