Brandon Lowe mocked the Yankees after the Rays’ 7-4 win on Sunday afternoon, which included four Tampa batters getting hit by pitches.
“Obviously, tempers flare,” Lowe told Bally Sports after the game. “The history we do have with the Yankees, everything that has kind of come through does play a part into it.
“But looking at it, it is a last-place team agains a team that is in contention. They’re trying to ignite something over there. Whatever, not worth our time at this moment. We’re focused on bigger things right now than a little on-field scuff. We need these games.”It is hard to argue with Lowe’s point as the basement-dwelling Yankees are 62-68 and 6 1/2 games behind the fourth-place Red Sox entering Monday’s games.
The Rays are leading the AL wild-card race and are two games behind the Orioles for first place in the AL East.“Looking at it, it’s a last-place team against a team that’s in contention. They’re just trying to ignite something over there… Not worth our time at this moment. We’re focused on bigger things right now…”
