, previewing the upcoming drama from distributor Abramorama about a family’s run-in with a female hitchhiker that kickstarts a quest that blurs the line between kidnapping and running away.The Wayward trailer details the story of Cleo, an 11-year-old who goes on a road trip with her mother when the pair pick up a hitchhiking musician. After entrusting the hitchhiker to watch her daughter, Cleo’s mother returns to find the pair gone, and the musician suddenly demands ransom money for her return.
After its premiere, the film will open on November 20, 2024, at the Village East by Angelika in New York City for a weeklong engagement. The film will then be released widely in the first quarter of 2025 and will be available on Apple TV, Amazon, and Google Play stores. “Wayward follows eleven-year-old Cleo, who becomes enchanted with the charismatic female hitchhiker her mother picks up as they drive to their new home in Los Angeles.
