A message informing drivers about the 2024 Santa Fe's Trailer Parking Assist feature could actually block their view of the road behind them
When 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe drivers shift into reverse, they could see a pop-up message about the Trailer Parking Assist feature. This pop-up could block a driver's view of the road behind them, and is in violation of U.S. regulation. Hyundai will update the software in 18,206 Santa Fe SUVs in order to prevent the message from popping up.
After an employee put a Santa Fe into the reverse gear, they noticed the pop-up message in the infotainment screen, blocking the live image. The automaker quickly deduced that the cause of the issue was bad software logic, causing the message to pop up at the wrong time. Hyundai's investigators determined that the pop-up could hinder rear visibility, and was therefore in violation of U.S. regulations. Hyundai is aware of two unique reports of this issue from the U.S.
