Nicholas Cage gave his best royal wave to photographers; later, Willem Dafoe was asked to “give us a wave!” by the photo pit. “Who was it that wanted the wave?” he asked, before identifying the suspect and tossing his hand in their direction. Ryan Gosling brought his sister, mom and dad as his dates, letting his sister adjust his custom Gucci tuxedo jacket in between photos. When someone shouted at them that they were a handsome family, Gosling replied with a wink. “We’ve been sitting in that car for an hour and a half!” said Leslie Bibb, as her partner Sam Rockwell dashed back down the carpet to greet Regina King, who according to Bibb had recently made a shoe change. Robert Downey Jr. appeared gobsmacked at the sight of Chris Hemsworth on the carpet, before going on to dance it up for the photographers. Next came a rush: Greta Lee, Zendaya, Margot Robbie, Carey Mulligan, just as the official ceremony was getting underway. And with that, showtime!.
