Automotive News has reportedly learned new details on AMG's inaugural electric cars, the G-Wagen Cabriolet, and that mysterious CLE63.
A tranche of apparent intel on future Mercedes- AMG models has just dropped after a dealer meeting earlier this week, and it has some juicy tidbits about upcoming metal. According to Automotive News, unnamed attendees revealed what they saw and learned about included a new AMG GT Black Series , a mysterious CLE63, details on AMG 's forthcoming electric cars, and fresh info on the G-Wagen Cabriolet.
The car we’re most excited about here, no surprise, is the new AMG GT Black Series. Mercedes saved the Black Series version of its previous AMG GT generation for the very end, but we’re only a few years into this generation now. There are unfortunately no details about this new Black Series from the dealer meeting, though if it’s anything like the last one, expect it to be track-ready and extreme in every way.Next up is news on the array of electric GT cars built off the new AMG.EA architecture. We got an in-depth preview of the sedan last year, but the plan is to offer two SUVs on the same underpinnings, one being a more traditional SUV and the other an SUV coupe. The two SUVs were likened to the Porsche Cayenne in size and stance, and all three cars are expected to carry the GT63 badge, per AN. Alleged dealer intel suggests the sedan will have over 400 miles of range, while the SUV coupe will go over 300 miles.Mercedes has teased its G-Wagen Cabriolet a couple of times so far, but according to the report, dealers say it will go on sale in 2028 and carry the AMG G63 badge. There’s no word of a G550 version, which means the convertible should exclusively come with the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Production of the model is slated to begin in the third quarter of 2027.The last morsel of news concerns this spicy CLE-Class AMG model that Mercedes teased at the start of the year. It’s intended to be part of the ultra-exclusive Mythos series, according to the report, and only 30 copies are planned to be sold globally. Output is reportedly 646 horsepower, but we still don’t know what powertrain lies under its hood. The limited production scope is quite disappointing, but we can hope it’s a hint of more extreme CLE AMGs to come.
