You can definitely tell you're eating wheat here, but not in a toothsome, grainy way. It's more like a lingering wheat-y aftertaste that is more bitter than sweet. One taster noted this could be "masked with a lot of jam" while another complained that it was "weirdly soggy, even after toasting." It has wider, flat holes rather than the fluffy nooks and crannies you're used to.As you'd guess, this was vaguely sweet.
Then Thomas' pumpkin spice English muffins changed our minds, dammit! Everyone was shocked to like this one so much, and one taster even went as far to say "I'd serve this to my non-existent children as a fun fall after-school snack." There were some issues with aftertaste, a common theme in this taste test, but many praised the "slight nuttiness and subtle spice" that would "be phenomenal with cream cheese and flannel pajamas.
