An 8-year-old child was shot and killed on Friday night in Newark , according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.The 8-year-old boy was pronounced dead at University Hospital, officials said.
Detectives are going through a house on Yates Avenue and a car on Osborne Terrace marking and collecting evidence where an 8-year-old boy and a male adult were shot.One neighbor tells Eyewitness News he heard as many as 10 shots. Another saw what looked like a car crash behind the crime scene tape. "It's hurtful because if we were walking with my child, something could've happened. But I hope that they catch whoever," another neighbor said.
