After Nebula apparently stole his arm, Marvel's Thunderbolts has to answer the mystery of how the former Winter Soldier gets a new one.
The MCU needs to explain exactly how Sebastian Stan's Bucky gets a new arm for Marvel’s Thunderbolts after losing it to another superhero anti-hero at the end of Phase 4. Ever since becoming the Winter Soldier, Bucky has been known for his cybernetically-enhanced prosthetic left arm. It was originally given to him by HYDRA, but the Wakandans gave him a vibranium arm after the original was destroyed.
7 Wakanda Could Make Bucky A New Arm The Winter Soldier’s original titanium arm was destroyed by Iron Man in the final fight of Captain America: Civil War. After the events of that film, Bucky chose to stay frozen in Wakanda until they could figure out a cure for his brainwashing. Two years later, the threat of Thanos loomed too large and T’Challa gifted Bucky a new vibranium prosthetic arm to help with the fight.
5 Bucky May Have Already Had A Spare Arm After Bucky’s first arm was destroyed by Iron Man, he didn’t use another prosthetic for a while. It was only until Thanos’ attack that he accepted another one from the Wakandans. Shuri and her team must have made prototypes of some sort, and they may have even already prepared spare ones.
The MCU will have to set up adamantium sooner or later, especially with Wolverine set to become part of the universe. Wolverine is known for having a skeleton laced with adamantium which is what gives him his famous claws. Making adamantium a plot point in Thunderbolts through Bucky’s arm would be a much-needed set-up for Wolverine’s MCU future, as well as a way for the MCU to become less reliant on vibranium.
