According to troopers with Florida Highway Patrol, a bus with 53 people on board was carrying migrant workers to a watermelon farm around 6:30 a.m. Authorities said eight people died and eight others were critically injured. An additional 37 people were taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities used a Marion County Public Schools bus to take injured people from the crash to the hospital.
