Police are currently investigating a double fatal accident in the westbound lanes of I-90 in Euclid involving a vehicle and a semi-truck.
EUCLID, Ohio - The Cuyahoga Medical Examiner confirmed Friday morning the identity of one individual involved in a double fatal accident on I-90 in Euclid between a car and semi-truck.
The medical examiner confirmed that 79-year-old Charles Pankratz was one of the two who died in the crash.The accident at around 1:50 p.m, according to police, happened on a stretch of I-90 that has been designated a Speed and Safety Corridor by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. The safety initiative was launched in July and it runs eight miles from East 55th Street in Cleveland to East 260th in Euclid.
Since 2001 the Ohio State Highway Patrol says there have been at least 413 serious crashes that have involved excessive speed and reckless driving on that stretch of highway.The semi driver involved in the crash was among those who called 911 for help, saying a car rammed into him.
