After Hugo was found in August, he was admitted to the hospital with a body temperature nearing 107 degrees. It took him nearly a week to gain the strength to stand. He was also suffering from additional wounds that he is still receiving treatment for.

“He’s going to continue for two more weeks on an antibiotic for staph - and the vets have added a cream that will be applied daily to his wound,” his foster said. “He’s still a big love bug who just wants to play and snuggle.”The community rallied behind Hugo when he was first found and helped raise money for his medical expenses. At the time, he was only given a 50% chance to survive. “Hugo and other dogs like him are able to get this kind of extensive treatment thanks to the support from the community through donations to our medical fund, Jane's Fund.”
