A seven-year-old boy, identified as Breon Allen, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting on Jacksonville's Westside. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Commonwealth Avenue as Allen and a 21-year-old man, believed to be his cousin, were walking out of a home and heading to the corner store. A car, believed to be a Kia Soul, pulled up, and individuals inside began firing shots. Both Allen and the 21-year-old man sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital.

Sadly, Allen succumbed to his injuries, while the 21-year-old man remains in critical condition. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) stated that multiple shooters were involved, utilizing both handguns and rifles during the attack.Several houses in the vicinity were also struck by gunfire, but no other injuries were reported. Neighbors recounted a terrifying scene, describing two individuals in a black vehicle firing indiscriminately at the victims. Breon's mother, Casheena Love, expressed her profound grief and called for anyone with information to come forward. She described her son as a happy child and a promising football player, known throughout the city for his exceptional skills. She pleaded for justice, stating that her son was innocent and did not deserve this fate.Sheriff T.K. Waters issued a statement condemning the senseless violence and vowing to bring those responsible to justice. He emphasized that anyone who could inflict such harm on a child should not be allowed to roam the streets. The JSO is actively investigating the shooting and urges anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously
