Michael Warren was sentenced to 90 months in prison for his role in a drug trafficking ring linked to Aryan prison gangs. Authorities seized over 640,000 fentanyl pills, a kilogram of fentanyl powder, and 23 firearms from Warren's residence. Prosecutors argued that Warren knowingly supplied fentanyl to prisons, endangering inmates trying to overcome addiction.
A 66-year-old man, Michael Warren , was sentenced to 90 months in prison for his role in a drug trafficking ring linked to Aryan prison gangs. Warren's arrest in March 2023 followed a two-year investigation by federal agents who raided his home in December 2022. The search uncovered two pill presses, over 640,000 fentanyl pills, and a kilogram of fentanyl powder, enough to produce thousands more. Federal prosecutors stated that Warren also possessed 23 firearms at the residence.
During the case against him, authorities emphasized the unpredictable potency of the pills Warren manufactured, raising serious concerns about their potential lethality. Assistant United States Attorney Zach Dillon expressed, 'We have no idea how strong they are. Sometimes there is a little bit of fentanyl in them, and sometimes there’s a ton.' He further explained that drug producers like Warren lack the expertise of professional chemists, leading to inconsistent and dangerous dosages.Prosecutors successfully argued during Warren's sentencing that he was aware his fentanyl pills were frequently smuggled into prisons and consumed by Aryan prison gangs, endangering the lives of inmates attempting to recover from drug addiction. Dillon stated, 'They’ve come off those drugs for the short while, and if they gain regain access to narcotics even leads to overdoses in our prisons.' Warren's activities extended beyond pill production. He traveled to Arizona multiple times to collect methamphetamine and fentanyl from his drug trafficking organization's supplier. Prosecutors noted that Warren's age made him an unusual figure in the world of fentanyl production in western Washington. Dillon remarked, 'Drug dealing is a young man’s game. You would normally see defendants much younger and certainly not in their 60s.' He added, 'Certainly, age doesn’t stop you from being able to distribute narcotics.'The overall investigation into Warren's drug trafficking ring led to the guilty plea of ringleader Bryson Gill. Gill pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. His sentencing is scheduled for May 9, 2025.
