A federal investigation led to the arrest of Michael Warren, 66, for his involvement in a drug trafficking ring linked to Aryan prison gangs. The operation resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, firearms, and US currency. Warren was sentenced to 90 months in prison after pleading guilty to his role in the ring.

A federal investigation led to the seizure of a vast quantity of suspected fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, and firearms from multiple locations. Agents seized approximately 650,000 suspected fentanyl pills, two pill presses, 15.6 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, approximately ½ kilogram of fentanyl powder, and nine firearms from one residence.

At another location, agents found approximately 360 grams of fentanyl powder, 66 grams of suspected fentanyl pills, 10 firearms, one firearm suppressor/silencer, approximately $56,000 in U.S. currency, and multiple phones. Four firearms were also found at a third location. Michael Warren, a 66-year-old man, was sentenced to 90 months in prison for his role in the drug trafficking ring linked to Aryan prison gangs. Warren was arrested in March 2023 following a two-year investigation into drug trafficking activities. A search of his home in December 2022 revealed two pill presses, over 640,000 fentanyl pills, and a kilo of fentanyl powder, capable of producing thousands more. Authorities stated that the potency of the pills Warren manufactured was unknown, raising serious concerns about the potential for deadly consequences. Assistant United States Attorney Zach Dillon emphasized, 'We have no idea how strong they are. Sometimes there is a little bit of fentanyl in them, and sometimes there’s a ton.' Dillon further explained that due to the lack of professional chemical knowledge among drug producers like Warren, the amount of fentanyl powder in each pill was unpredictable. Prosecutors successfully argued during Warren's sentencing that he was aware his fentanyl pills were smuggled into prisons and consumed by Aryan prison gangs, endangering the lives of inmates attempting to stay sober. Dillon stated, 'They’ve come off those drugs for the short while, and if they gain regain access to narcotics even leads to overdoses in our prisons.' Warren also drove to Arizona on multiple occasions to collect methamphetamine and fentanyl from his drug trafficking organization's supplier. Prosecutors noted that Warren's age made him one of the oldest individuals in western Washington convicted for fentanyl production, highlighting that age is no barrier to drug dealing. As part of the overall case against Warren's drug trafficking organization, ringleader Bryson Gill pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Gill is scheduled for sentencing on May 9, 2025
