Creed is similar to Rocky in many ways, and the first film in the franchise borrows many storylines from Sylvester Stallone's original film.
Creed premiered in 2015 and was strong enough to stand on its own, but it still copied some aspects of Rocky. Fans were upset to find out Sylvester Stallone would not be returning for Creed III since his Rocky films started the franchise and inspired the Creed spinoff movies. Even worse, Creed III offered no explanation of Rocky's whereabouts, instead focusing on Adonis and his rivalry with his childhood friend, Dame.
In Creed, Adonis gets his own love interest. Bianca is an aspiring musician who lives in the same Philadelphia building as Adonis does. When Adonis hears her blasting music, he knocks on her door to complain, but a relationship sparks instead. Bianca shares similar concerns to Adrian around Adonis' boxing career, and the following Creed films showcase some of the issues Adonis' career creates for his family.

Apollo is a seasoned, famous, and successful fighter, and Rocky has a lot of work to do if he wants to come close to being as talented as Apollo.
