He then bounced to Jacksonville as a linebackers coach, then to San Francisco as a defensive coordinator. Finally, in 2021, he landed his first head coaching gig, at any level, with the New York Jets.Saleh’s time with the Jets came to an end mid-season in 2024, his fourth year with New York. Saleh’s Jets never finished better than third place in the AFC East, and yet there are still some who say he didn’t exactly get a fair shake.
That run lasted four plays, as Rodgers ruptured his Achilles in the first game and missed 99.9% of the season, derailing Saleh’s third year in New York.After they followed in 2024 with a 2-3 start, Jets owner Woody Johnson dismissed Saleh and rolled with an interim coach for the remainder of the season., the Jets wanted to fire Saleh after 2023-24. It was because Rodgers wanted him back that New York gave Saleh another season.Saleh’s background is one-of-a-kind among his football peers.
