Phoenix Suns were already down Devin Booker and Cam Johnson. Now they lose Deandre Ayton (ankle) and Cameron Payne (foot) in Tuesday's loss at Houston.

HOUSTON – The Phoenix Suns have the mindset that they’re just 28 games into the season. As Deandre Ayton said after the overtime loss in New Orleans on Sunday,"I don’t care about no regular season game.”Even Suns coach Monty Williams referenced his first season in Phoenix when it suffered an eight-game losing skid ironically in December 2019.“That’s something I know they all feel,” he added.

That’s not how a championship contender responds after feeling as if they need a victory against a sub .500 team even without its best player in Devin Booker. Payne exited with a left foot injury near the midway point in the second quarter and Ayton injured his left ankle again stepping on someone's foot late in the first half.

He missed only two games with a left ankle sprain earlier this season, but he took a couple of games to work his way back from form. Now Ayton could’ve had a big second half as Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon was in the building, but he was just 2-of-10 from the field for five points in the first.Sengun had nine of his 16 rebounds in the first half with four coming on the offensive boards.
