The 49ers opened their final week of the preseason with a practice Monday, and they’ll fly to Houston after Tuesday’s session.
SANTA CLARA — The 49ers had three more interceptions at practice Monday, something that’s been a recurring theme for the defense since training camp began.
Moseley, projected as a starting cornerback with free agent signing Charvarius Ward, participated in his first team sessions in three weeks after recovering from a hamstring injury. He had an interception off Trey Lance as well as a pass breakup. Other interceptions came from safety Talanoa Hufanga and middle linebacker Fred Warner, also against Lance. All three passes were intended for Deebo Samuel.
The 49ers racked up 15 interceptions in their first 11 training camp practices. And while it’s fair to wonder how much the 49ers’ quarterback play has had to do with all of the practice interceptions, visual evidence suggests the 49ers have been playing tight and aggressively and are making plays on the ball.
From his vantage point, Ryans said the 49ers showed considerable improvement from the Green Bay to Minnesota weeks, including the joint practice sessions with the Vikings. “When I look at myself, I think of making All-Pro, the Pro Bowl,” Moseley said. “They’ve got a top 100 . I see myself in all those. I really believe in myself.”“It was great just to see him instantly impacting our defense, making plays, getting an interception, a PBU,” Ryans said. “It’s fun to have a guy back out there that just loves to compete each and every day and to see him on his first day make plays and just help us.
