Four GOP senators confronted the embattled Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Sen. Marsha Blackburn posted a video on X with Sen. John Barrasso after the encounter. 'Sen. Blackburn and I just went face to face with the director of the Secret Service asking for specific answers about what happened with President Trump in Pennsylvania and how that shooter was able to get off a clear shot,' Barrasso said in the video.
Cheatle has been facing a barrage of criticism from Republican lawmakers after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on Saturday. Many have questioned how the Secret Service allowed a shooter to get close enough to the rally to fire on Trump and attendees. Several top Republicans have called for her ouster, including House Speaker Mike Johnson , Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell , House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and Sen. John Thune .
