Four soldiers died and another was injured after a Philippine Air Force helicopter crashed while taking off Thursday night, July 23, at the Cauayan Air Station in Isabela.
PAF Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Aristides Galang Jr confirmed the deaths in a statement on Friday morning, July 24. He said the identities of the personnel were still being verified. "The PAF, and the AFP as a whole, shares the grief and extends its sympathy to the bereaved families and colleagues of the airmen who perished in this air operations mishap," Galang said.
"The PAF will continue to care for its gallant airmen and their services will be honored. Their families will be given assistance," he added. Galang said the UH-1D Huey chopper #8308 from the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing"crash landed while taking off for NVG Proficiency Training at Tactical Operations Group 2, Cauayan Air Station, Cauayan City, Isabela" at 7 pm, Thursday.The PAF will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
