A helicopter of the Philippine Air Force carrying 5 passengers crashed while taking off Thursday night, July 23, at the Cauayan Air Station in Isabela.
The PAF Public Affairs Office said in a statement that the number of casualties was still unknown as recovery operations were ongoing as of this posting. Lieutenant Colonel Aristides Galang Jr, chief of the PAF PAO, said the UH-1D Huey chopper #8308 from the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing"crash landed while taking off for NVG Proficiency Training at Tactical Operations Group 2, Cauayan Air Station, Cauayan City, Isabela" at 7 pm, Thursday.The statement said the Huey had"5 personnel onboard" when the accident happened.
"As of this time, the recovery of the aircraft is being executed to determine the number of casualties. The PAF will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the incident," Galang said in the statement.
