Authorities say a months-long investigation traced thousands of videos to an account in the remote Aleutian community

AKUTAN, Alaska - A 66-year-old Akutan man has been arrested on multiple felony charges after state investigators said he is linked to thousands of videos depicting child sexual abuse. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation said the case began in September 2025, when it’s Technical Crime s Unit and Task Force Dawnbreaker received multiple tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The reports flagged a man believed to be downloading large quantities of child sexual abuse material. After a months-long investigation, authorities identified the account as belonging to Tom Bereskin of Akutan, investigators said. Forensic analysis linked roughly 4,217 videos of child sexual abuse material to the account. Alaska Wildlife Troopers traveled to Akutan on Jan. 26 and 27 with transportation assistance from the Alaska State Trooper vessel. Investigators contacted Bereskin upon arrival and arrested him on 10 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, according to authorities.
