At 1 p.m., Seattle police officers were called to a report of an armed robbery near 35th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Alaska Street. Officers arrived to find three men -- ages 28, 39, and 42 -- with significant head injuries. They were given medical aid at the scene and then taken to Harborview Medical Center. Investigators learned that several suspects sprayed a fire extinguisher inside the victims' tent. When the victims left the tent to escape the fumes, they were attacked. Police said the victims were hit in their heads with improvised weapons, including a crowbar, the fire extinguisher, and a wrench. Two of the victims lost consciousness during the attack. The third victim, who had a severe cut on his head, was able to escape. While the two victims lay on the ground, the suspects went through their pockets and took everything they had. The suspects then ran away before police arrived. A K-9 team summoned to the area tracked the suspects to a tent in a nearby encampment. After obtaining a search warrant for the property, the Seattle Police Department's SWAT team executed it but did not find the suspects. Robbery detectives collected evidence and then went to Harborview to interview the victims. As of Sunday evening, one victim was stable, and the other two were in critical condition.Anyone with information is asked to call the Seattle Police Department's violent crimes tip line at 206-233-5000.
