Two former American Airlines captains are among the six people who died in the midair collision.

"Our hearts go out to their families, friends, and colleagues past and present," the Allied Pilots Association, an American Airlines pilots union, wrote on Twitter.The names were released online as Dallas County authorities say they are still working to officially identify the crew members. The two involved aircraft were from Houston, according to the Commemorative Air Force.
In a letter to the Ohio Wing Civil Air Patrol, Col. Pete Bowden confirmed Rowe's death, adding that he was a 30-year air patrol member who volunteered as a crew member of the Flying Fortress. He held every aircrew rating possible and was working as a maintenance officer for the Ohio Wing.
