From healing homes to new party venues, 2023 is already brimming with new openings, fresh trends and exciting people
A growing demand for sustainable travel has created a new era for Europe’s rail network, with a number of new overnight services, high-speed trains and scenic itineraries. The EU has announced plans to double its spending on high-speed rail by 2030, and last year, France banned short domestic flights where a rail alternative of less than 2.5 hours exists .
As part of its year-long celebrations, the publisher will release Furies: The Virago Book of Wild Women, featuring stories by writers Margaret Atwood and Emma Donoghue, as well as five major re-issues, from Angela Carter's The Sade in Woman to Sarah Waters' Tipping the Velvet. Other"initiatives and events" will follow, before the imprint publishes Maya Angelou's memoirs on its Modern Classics list for the first time in November.22.
