The MC20 Cielo drop-top features a state-of-the-art electrochromic glass roof. This allows it to be transformed from clear to opaque at the touch of a button. More importantly, it opens and closes in just 12 seconds.. This 3.0L V6-turbo twists out 210 hp per litre of displacement, for a total of 630 hp. Better yet, it makes 538 lb-ft of torque from 3,000 rpm.
The key is the pre-chamber combustion system with twin spark plugs. This technology was derived from Formula One, and is available for the first time in a road-going ride. Working with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, it drives the rear wheels. So how fast, you ask? It hits 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 320 km/h.Article content
The Cielo rides on an adaptive suspension that varies according to the drive mode. In GT it is soft, in Sport it’s firm, while Corsa puts the dampers into race mode. Of course, the drive modes also alter the engine, transmission, active exhaust flaps, and traction control. For the brave the stability control can be turned off completely. An option is a hydraulic system that raises the ride height by 50 mm to clear speed bumps or sharp curbs.
The cabin is minimalist in nature, with the number of buttons pared back. The notable exceptions are the Start and Launch Control functions that sit on the steering wheel. The majority of functions are accessed through the 10.0-inch screens for the instrumentation and multimedia functions.
