Humane Society personnel and law enforcement seized 22 animals from a property in Delaware County last week. They executed a search warrant on Friday, January 23, along US 23 and found nine dogs, five potbelly pigs, three cats, two chickens, one duck, one turtle, and one rabbit.
The Humane Society described the conditions the animals were living in as "horrible and filthy." Dogs were found in zip-tied crates, living in their own waste. Cats were extremely thin and had open wounds. The potbelly pigs, chickens, and the duck were kept in an outdoor area that lacked adequate shelter and bedding, and all water sources were frozen, the Humane Society said. The Delaware County Dog Warden and Sheriff's Department assisted in the seizure.
