The 2023 911 Sport Classic reimagines retro Porsche styling and introduces a killer powertrain combination not found in the rest of the lineup.
If you visit the North American Porsche website, there are 21 different 911 models buyers can choose from. And now we havehas a unique powertrain setup and a specially designed body that makes it stand out from other 911 offerings. As the second of four releases from the Heritage Design Strategy, it's limited to only 1,250 units and will of course be difficult to get—but it's one worth paying attention to if you spot it in the wild.
For the best launch, instead bring the engine right up to the limited 3,500 rpm. Holding the gas pedal to the floor doesn't leave enough room to modulate engine speed, so back off the throttle just until engine speed starts to dip. Begin to release the clutch, and as soon as it starts to engage, hold it steady. Yes, some clutch slip is necessary to avoid bogging down the engine. At this point, start to add in some throttle.
Overall, it's difficult to find much to dislike about the 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic. Its interpretation of retro styling and its exclusive powertrain setup give it looks and performance that have us applauding Porsche designers and engineers. For all the options that already exist, the Sport Classic gives prospective 911 buyers something else to consider.
