Robyn Lively in Lioness
It has been a long wait for fans of Taylor Sheridan's Lioness, but the show has finally hit a major milestone. After months of production and nearly two years of waiting since Season 2 aired in late 2024, Taylor Sheridan’s spy thriller has officially wrapped filming on Season 3.
Paramount+ still has not announced a premiere date, but this is the biggest sign yet that the series is moving toward its return. The update comes from the cast themselves. Jill Wagner, who plays Bobby, shared a post on Instagram confirming that the season is finished and sounding very excited about what is coming. “To try to capture the last 5 months in 20 pics is impossible ….. season 3 was EPIC. Every single moment was golden to me. I am fully aware that I am living in ‘the sweet spot’ and I’m allowing myself to drench myself in it. I love my Lioness cast crew. "I love TS for writing such an amazing show … I love the good people of Texas who treated me and my family with kindness …. I love my friends who cheer me on and who have watched me hustle and understand the highs and lows of this business, I love my family who tag along while I chase dreams ….. I love Jesus Christ who gives me the heart to keep running. There is a reason I do what I do …. I’m finding it day by day.” James Jordan also marked the end of production with a simpler message of his own, posting, “Thank you we did it.” Taken together, the two posts leave very little doubt that Season 3 is now fully in the can. Collider’s review, by Michael John Petty, stated that Lioness Season 2 justified its own existence more than expected, even if it didn’t quite match the self-contained power of the first installment. After Season 1 ended on an emotionally devastating note for Joe , the new season expanded the scope of the narrative while doubling down on the show’s core tension: the impossible balance between duty to country and duty to family. "Lioness is based on the real-life team, after all, and while the series differs from the true story, its commitment to examining the genuine psychological effects of these operations is both admirable and daunting. As civilians, it can be challenging to try to understand the sorts of hardships those in the U.S. Armed Forces face, and Lioness does its best to show how all of that plays out — both in the field and off it. Season 2 is certainly a step in the right direction for this series and leads us to hope Sheridan will pursue more thriller projects in the future." 7 10 Lioness Like Follow Followed TV-MA Drama Thriller War Release Date July 23, 2023 Network Paramount+ Showrunner Taylor Sheridan Directors John Hillcoat, Anthony Byrne, Paul Cameron, Stephen Kay, Taylor Sheridan Writers Taylor Sheridan, Jill Wagner Cast See All
