The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting that happened on Friday afternoon near Brown Middle School in Forney ISD
.The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office said two people were shot in the neighborhood near the school on Windmill Farms Boulevard, which is just outside the Forney city limits.Two people are now in custody in connection to the shooting. Forney ISD confirmed there was an active crime scene and the campus was in a "secure" mode, along with North Forney Middle School, Smith Intermediate, Dewberry Elementary, Blackburn Elementary, and Forney Learning Academy.
Images from SKY 4 still showed crime scene tape around a car that was parked in front of the school.Forney ISD said the "secure" mode was lifted around 3:30 p.m. and it began the process of releasing students to their parents.Those who walk home are expected to be released at their normal time of 4 p.m.Bus routes may be slightly delayed, the district said.The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office has not released any other details about the shooting.
