Updated: Feb. 05, 2025, 5:33 p.m.An Ocean County school district is considering whether to close a second school building in less than a year due to state budget cuts., according to the K-12 district’s website.Jackson Liberty High School would become the sole high school for grades 9 to 12.The possible closing of the middle school follows last year’s closing of an elementary school in Jackson.

Jackson school district administrators cited the impact of $22.4 million in state aid reductions over seven years when discussing theThe school board accepted a $13.1 million bid for the site in December from Bais Yaakov of Jackson. Bais Yaakov isthe Asbury Park Press reported. The district may not sell Goetz Middle School. On its website, school district officials say they might seek to rent out the building.

Jackson Liberty High School opened in 2006, more than four decades after Jackson Memorial High School. Of the district’s six elementary schools, Sylvia Rosenauer had the lowest enrollment, with 265 students.
