Witnesses reported hearing shots fired and saw people running away from the park, but they did not see the actual shooting, Wade said. They called 911.The deadly shootings marked Birmingham’s 114th and 115th homicide this year. Of those, eight have been ruled justifiable and two happened in previous years and died in 2024.
