A U.S. Park Police officer was shot in Southeast Washington, D.C., and was taken to a hospital in critical condition At around 7:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of Queens Stroll Place, Southeast, the officer was shot in an unmarked vehicle.
The officer has been investigating an offense that occurred in U.S. Park Police jurisdiction when two armed male suspects approached and fired multiple shots at the vehicle as it drove away. MPD said the officer was able to drive away. The injured officer was flown by the U.S. Park Police aviation unit to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged, according to MPD. Police said 21-year-old Darren Foster of Southeast, DC, was located and stopped shortly after the shooting on Monday. On Tuesday, officers located a second suspect, 22-year-old Asheile Foster of Southeast, DC.Court records show that Asheile Foster was previously charged with motor vehicle theft, a weapons violation, and more. The case is being investigated by detectives from MPD’s NIBIN Investigations Unit, which includes agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, along with detectives from the U.S. Park Police, MPD said.The U.S. Attorney's Office for D.C. told 7News that they anticipate charges to be filed tomorrow in District Court.A body found floating in Big Walnut Creek by passerby Sunday has been identified as Angela Fair.
