Houston police and firefighters responded to the major accident around 10:30 p.m. at 11334 Beaumont Highway near Oats Street, Lt. Larry Crowson said. Officials found the two deceased males in the front seats of the SUV, he added. Houston police investigating after two men died Friday night when the SUV they were in crashed under an 18-wheeler's trailer as the large vehicle was pulling out onto the Beaumont Highway.Based on the police's initial investigation, the 18-wheeler was pulling out of a yard on Beaumont Highway at the same time the speeding SUV was going east, according to Crowson.
Once HPD's Vehicle Crimes Unit completes its investigation then the Harris County District Attorney's Office will be contacted to see if any charges will be filed, Crowson stated. HPD will also follow up with the medical examiner to determine if alcohol was a factor, Sgt. Pham said at the scene.
