Blustery and frigid today with afternoon flurries.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - A true polar air mass sits over the area with dangerous wind chill values in the 10 to 20 below range through the day. High temperatures 9 to 14 degrees. A blustery southwest wind is forecast at 10-20 mph. We have a disturbance tracking through this afternoon. Clouds are on the increase this morning with some flurries or snow showers around this afternoon. Snow accumulations look to be minor with this feature.
The steering wind for lake effect snow briefly veers more to the west by this evening. That should allow for some snow to track back onshore for towns east of Cleveland. Locally over 2 inches of powder is possible where bands persist. The big story tonight, however, is for the clouds to clear out and the wind really decreases. Temperatures are expected to crash into record territory by early tomorrow morning. Double digit below zero air temperatures are expected.
