The Metropolitan Police Department has apprehended a 17-year-old male suspect linked to numerous robberies in Northwest Washington, D.C. The suspect was arrested on Friday, January 24, 2025, after simulating a weapon and demanding money from a victim in the 2000 block of Vermont Avenue, Northwest. He is facing charges including Armed Robbery, Carrying a Pistol Without a License, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced the arrest of a 17-year-old male in connection with multiple robberies that occurred in Northwest Washington, D.C. The suspect's apprehension came on Friday, January 24, 2025, at approximately 12:18 p.m., when he approached a victim in the 2000 block of Vermont Avenue, Northwest. The suspect, according to MPD reports, simulated having a weapon and demanded the victim's money.

He then proceeded to take the victim's phone and used a cash app to transfer funds to himself before fleeing the scene. Responding officers promptly apprehended the suspect and recovered a handgun from him.The 17-year-old suspect was charged with Armed Robbery, Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. Further investigation by detectives revealed the suspect's involvement in a string of robberies that occurred between December 5, 2024, and January 20, 2025. These additional charges included Armed Robbery (Gun) incidents in the 1700 block of Park Road, Northwest, the 1300 block of Park Road, Northwest, the 3300 block of 17th Street, Northwest, and the 3300 block of 14th Street, Northwest. He was also charged with an Armed Robbery (Gun) incident in the 1300 block of Harvard Street, Northwest, on Monday, January 20, 2025. In addition to the armed robbery charges, the suspect faced accusations of Assault With A Dangerous Weapon, Robbery (Fear), and other offenses. These incidents took place in various locations throughout Northwest D.C. on dates ranging from January 8, 2025, to January 20, 2025. The MPD emphasized that these cases remain under active investigation and urged anyone with information about these incidents to contact the authorities at (202) 727-9099 or send a text message to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
