VFW Post 8397 held a flag retirement ceremony and honored the 13 service members killed in Kabul, Afghanistan last year.
Almost a year has passed since 13 service members were killed in an attack in Kabul, Afghanistan after President Biden ordered the removal of US troops. The names of the 11 Marines, one Soldier, and one Navy Corpsman killed last August in Kabul were remembered in a flag retirement ceremony at VFW Post 8397.was only 20 years old when he was killed. He was a lance corporal in the Marine Corps.“He wanted to join the Marines. He just loved helping people,” Elizabeth Holguin, David’s mom, said.
Holguin was given one of the 13 stripes of the retired American flag with her son’s name on it to lay to rest.
