The leads of From Justin to Kelly
Musicals are a divisive genre; beloved by many viewers, avoided at all costs by others. In part, this is because they vary so much in quality. For every Sweeney Todd, there's a Cats. The 21st century has already produced a string of movie musicals that not only missed their mark but failed spectacularly, quickly becoming infamous for their cringe-worthy performances, muddled plots, and lackluster direction.

The Hannah Montana TV show was a juggernaut of 2000s kids' entertainment, remaining fundamentally entertaining despite being thoroughly goofy. The same cannot be said for the feature film, however.
✕ Remove Ads The decision to use puppeteering over CGI is commendable, adding some nostalgia value, but the plot and writing quickly bring the project down. The movie wears out its welcome with cringeworthy dialogue, mediocre country tunes, an uncommitted performance from Walken, and an endless parade of celebrity cameos. Consequently, The Country Bears flopped at the box office, bringing in just $18m against $35m budget. It's simply boring and safely skippable, even for kids.
6 'Skate or Die' Directed by Miguel Courtois Close ✕ Remove Ads "Skate to survive." Skate or Die follows two teenage skaters who witness a murder and must go on the run from corrupt cops while competing in a high-stakes skateboarding tournament. It tries to blend crime elements with extreme sports and a musical twist. This is a pretty weird premise and it's brought down further by weak storytelling.
Saving this trainwreck was beyond the powers of even stars like Taylor Swift, Judi Dench, and Idris Elba. The only good part is Jennifer Hudson's rendition of 'Memory', but this is too little, too late. Lloyd Webber apparently hated the movie too, telling the filmmakers during production,"You've got a car crash on your hands unless you get a grip on this thing."
✕ Remove Ads Not to mention, many of the scenes are hard to believe . Worst of all, the movie has no energy or sense of fun, becoming a slog when it should have been light and breezy. This all adds up to a legitimate dumpster fire. Carey herself later disowned the movie, saying," started out as a concept with substance, but it ended up being geared to 10-year-olds."
