Alan Ritchson in Reacher on Prime

For those who love high-octane, edge-of-your-seat, action-packed television shows, you're living in the right time. Nowadays, be it on streaming, cable, or network television, action thrillers are all the rage.

From fast-paced military thrillers to political thrillers featuring ex-law enforcement to superhero-based shows that pull no punches, there are plenty of action projects out there. We've put together a list of the upcoming action TV shows that you ought to keep an eye out for. Some are heading to a streamer near you within the next year or so, while others have been promised to arrive at some point in the near future. But whatever your favorite type of action drama entails, there's likely something you'll enjoy here on this list. 'The Terminal List' Season 2 After The Terminal List was a breakout hit in 2022, the Prime Video series sparked a franchise based off the novels by former Navy SEAL Jack Carr. With Chris Pratt in the lead as James Reece, audiences were both wowed and horrified by what he would do to take down those responsible for killing his family and his SEAL unit. So, when a second season based on Carr's True Believer novel was green-lit, well, let's just say we're really eager to see where Pratt takes Reece next. The Terminal List Season 2 is seemingly set to drop on the streamer in late 2026, though an exact date has not been specified. Of course, if that isn't soon enough, you could always revisit Reece and Taylor Kitsch's Ben Edwards with the prequel series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, which embellishes on their history seven years before the 2022 series. If you do decide to binge through Dark Wolf, you'll get to enjoy all the additional characters the prequel introduces, some of whom may be important for Season 2. 'Reacher' Season 4 Another Prime Video action series that has taken audiences by storm, Reacher is based on the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child and stars Alan Ritchson as the title hero. Adapting a new novel each year, the series continues to up the action and get more intense with each new batch of episodes. After last year's third season, we're all eagerly awaiting Season 4, which will be based on the novel Gone Tomorrow. Reacher Season 4 is also expected to drop on Prime Video in late 2026, and will no doubt blow our minds. The hulking force that is Ritchson is certainly a stark contrast to the original Tom Cruise-led films, and he continues to faithfully embody the character that many have loved for decades. This is an explosive action show that's perfect for a weekend binge. 'Man on Fire' If the title sounds familiar to you, it's probably because Man on Fire was originally a Denzel Washington movie. Of course, before that, it was a novel by A. J. Quinnell, and that's what's being adapted here by Kyle Killen and the folks at Netflix. With Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the famous John Creasy, this action-packed drama is set to explode like dynamite on the screen. At least, that's our hope. Man on Fire is set to hit Netflix with all eight episodes on April 30, 2026. For those looking for a fast-paced action thriller that's far more intense as a multipart series than a film, this is the series for you. Abdul-Mateen may not be Denzel Washington, but from what we've seen from this riveting sneak peek, it's going to be a bingeworthy action series you won't forget. 'Spider-Noir' One of the strangest Marvel projects to ever be green-lit, Spider-Noir is a Nicolas Cage-led take on Spider-Man set during the Great Depression-era. Yes, it's an alternate universe from most of the Spidey stories you're used to, but it's one that certainly deserves its own Prime Video series, no matter how strange it appears. Watching a Spidey Nick Cage beat up bad guys in live-action across New York City is certainly a dream come true. Spider-Noir premieres on Prime Video on May 25, 2026, with the rest of the show's episodes dropping two days later on the 27th. Of course, what's especially fascinating about this Marvel Comics adaptation — one of our most anticipated superhero shows this year — is that it's available in both black-and-white and color formats. Noir lovers will get a kick out of the former, while the latter is sure to delight on its own. 'Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord' Although Star Wars is usually pretty action heavy as far as sci-fi franchises go, we don't always think of it in terms of the action genre. Perhaps Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord will change that. The upcoming series follows former Sith lord Maul in the time period between the Clone Wars and the original trilogy, emphasizing his ambitions for a criminal empire. As the only animated series on this list, it's one you won't want to miss. Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord premieres on April 6, 2026, on Disney+, and will release two episodes weekly through the beginning of May. Those who loved Witwer's interpretation of Maul in previous Star Wars projects will be satisfied by the level of lightsaber action here, as one of Star Wars' best characters to return from the dead continues to delight longtime fans. Plus, the show just looks really cool. Are You? Light Side · Dark Side · Or Somewhere Between The Force is not a binary. It is a spectrum — from the serene halls of the Jedi Temple to the shadowed corridors of Sith space. Ten questions will reveal where you truly fall. The Force has always known. Now you will too. 🔵Jedi Master 🟡Padawan 🔴Sith Lord ⚫Inquisitor ⚪Grey Jedi IGNITE YOUR SABER → QUESTION 1 / 10THE FORCE 01 What is the Force to you? Your relationship with the Force defines everything else. AA living energy I must be worthy of — it is not mine to control. BSomething vast and mysterious I'm only beginning to understand. CNeither light nor dark — just a current I choose to ride. DPower. Pure and simple. The strong take it; the weak don't. NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 2 / 10EMOTION 02 When you feel strong emotions — anger, grief, love — what do you do? The Jedi suppress. The Sith feed. Others choose differently. AAcknowledge them, then release them. Attachment leads to suffering. BFeel them fully, then decide what to do — they're not the enemy. CBury them. Emotion is a liability I can't afford to indulge. DUse them. Passion is the engine of the dark side for good reason. NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 3 / 10AUTHORITY 03 The Jedi Council gives you an order you disagree with. You: How you handle authority reveals your alignment. AFollow it. The Council's wisdom surpasses my own perspective. BVoice my objection clearly, then defer to the decision. CComply outwardly while doing what I think is right. DIgnore it. The strong don't answer to committees. NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 4 / 10TEMPTATION 04 You are offered forbidden knowledge that could give you enormous power. The cost is crossing a moral line. You: The dark side's pull is never more than a choice away. ARefuse without hesitation. There is no cost worth that price. BWeigh it carefully — sometimes darkness holds real answers. CFeel the pull but walk away — for now. DAccept it. Power justifies the method used to obtain it. NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 5 / 10TRAINING 05 Your approach to training and learning is: A student's habits become a master's character. ADedicated but humble. There is always more to learn from my masters. BRigorous and patient. Mastery is earned through years of discipline. CEclectic — I draw from every tradition, not just one. DRelentless and brutal. Pain accelerates growth. Rest is weakness. NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 6 / 10COMBAT 06 In a duel, your lightsaber fighting style reflects: Combat is the purest expression of a Force user's philosophy. ADefense and composure — I wait for my opponent to overcommit. BFast and instinctive — I trust the Force to guide my movements. CUnpredictable — I blend styles to keep enemies off-balance. DOverwhelming aggression — I end fights before they begin. NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 7 / 10COMPASSION 07 A defeated enemy lies at your feet, powerless. You: Mercy — or its absence — is the truest test of alignment. AStrike them down — compassion toward enemies is naïve and costly. BNeutralize them permanently. I can't afford loose ends. CSpare them if I can — but stay clear-eyed about the risks. DOffer them a chance to surrender. Every being deserves that. NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 8 / 10ATTACHMENT 08 The Jedi Code forbids attachment. Your honest view on love and bonds: The source of the greatest falls in the galaxy. AThe Code is right. Attachment clouds judgment and invites suffering. BLove is not a weakness — the Jedi Code got this one wrong. CI have no attachment — only loyalty to my master's mission. DI feel it deeply but struggle to reconcile it with my training. NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 9 / 10PURPOSE 09 Why do you use the Force at all? What's the point? Purpose is the difference between a knight and a weapon. ATo learn. I'm still figuring out what I'm capable of. BTo protect and serve. The Force is a responsibility, not a gift. CTo survive — and maybe carve out something worth having. DTo dominate. Strength demands to be expressed, not contained. NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 10 / 10THE CHOICE 10 At the final moment — light side or dark side pulling at you — what wins? In the end, every Force user faces this moment. What does yours look like? AThe light. I choose peace, even when darkness would be easier. BNeither fully — I carve my own path through the middle. CWhoever I serve — my loyalty defines me more than my morality. DThe dark. Power is the only thing that's ever actually been real. REVEAL MY ALIGNMENT → Your Alignment Has Been Determined Your Place in the Force The scores below reveal how the Force sees you. Your highest number is your true alignment. Read on to understand what that means — and what it will cost you. 🔵 Jedi Master 🟡 Padawan 🔴 Sith Lord ⚫ Inquisitor ⚪ Grey Jedi JEDI MASTER Disciplined, compassionate, and deeply attuned to the living Force, you have walked the path long enough to understand its demands — and accept them. You lead not through authority alone, but through example. You have felt the pull of the dark side and chosen otherwise, every time. That is not certainty. That is courage. PADAWAN You are earnest, powerful, and brimming with potential — and you know it, which is both your greatest asset and your most dangerous flaw. You act before you think, trust your gut over your training, and sometimes confuse impatience for bravery. The Masters see something in you, though. The question isn't whether you have what it takes — it's whether you'll be patient enough to find out. SITH LORD You are not simply dangerous — you are certain, and that is worse. You have decided what the galaxy needs, and you have decided you are the one to deliver it. Your power is genuine and formidable, earned through sacrifice that would have broken lesser beings. But examine your victories carefully. Every Sith believed their cause was righteous. The dark side's cruelest trick is that it agrees with you. INQUISITOR You were forged in fire and reshaped by those who found you at your lowest. You serve, because service gave you structure when you had none. Your allegiance is not to an ideology — it is to survival and to the master who gave you purpose. But there is something buried beneath the conditioning. The Jedi you hunt? You recognize them. Because you remember what it felt like before the choice was taken from you. GREY JEDI You have looked at the Jedi Code and the Sith Code and found both of them incomplete. You walk the line not out of indecision but out of conviction — you genuinely believe both extremes miss something essential. The Jedi don't fully trust you. The Sith think you're wasting your potential. They're both partially right. But so are you. ↻ RETAKE THE QUIZ 'Tracker' Season 4 Although Tracker is still in the midst of airing its third season on CBS, the favored network television thriller has already been renewed for a fourth season. As Colter Shaw continues to collect rewards all across America, he finds himself in the middle of curious situations and high-stakes environments — all while still trying to solve the mystery of his father's strange and sudden death. There's a reason that fans love this CBS drama. If this past season of Tracker is any indication, Season 4 will premiere on CBS sometime in the fall, likely around October. While a bit lighter on the action than some of the other shows on this list, Tracker delivers with its likable protagonist and engaging weekly plots that keep us coming back for more. If Season 3 doesn't end up delivering on all our Tracker questions, here's hoping Season 4 will. 'Trinity' From the mind of Jed Mercurio, Netflix is bringing Richard Madden and Gugu Mbatha-Raw together for a new action thriller with geopolitical undertones titled Trinity. The truth is, we don't know much about this project at all. There is no trailer, no teaser image , and very little out there about the plot. All we know is that it involves the Secretary of Defense and some sort of government conspiracy. As one of our most-anticipated Netflix shows of 2026, we're looking forward to seeing how Netflix breaks into the action thriller space with Trinity. The series is set to hit the streamer sometime this year, though we don't know exactly when. Whenever it does, we know that Madden and Mbatha-Raw will seriously deliver. 'Lanterns' For the DC Comics fans in the room, one of the most highly-anticipated projects to come from the brand in a while is HBO's Lanterns. With Kyle Chandler playing the Green Lantern Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre co-starring as GL-in-training John Stewart, seeing these two characters on the screen together is a dream come true for many. After one of DC's dumbest superhero movies bombed over a decade ago, this is the take on Green Lantern that may just make the superhero respectable again. Lanterns hits HBO Max this August with eight episodes. While the trailer doesn't reveal much of Jordan and Stewart in costume as the famed DC heroes , we're hoping that all the hand-to-hand action will be matched by some Green Lantern power ring excitement as well. The jury's still out on that, but considering the show is literally titled Lanterns, there better be some space action involved. 'House of the Dragon' Season 3 Admittedly, this author isn't a Game of Thrones fan by any stretch, but based solely on the online discourse surrounding the franchise, House of the Dragon Season 3 will be one to remember. As the third season gears up for war following the disappointing Season 2 finale,"The Queen Who Ever Was," fans of the high-fantasy HBO drama will undoubtedly be satisfied with whatever intense battle sequences are set to blow viewers away. If House of the Dragon Season 3 can match Game of Thrones' best battles, action-lovers will be happy. Expect House of the Dragon to return to HBO Max sometime in June 2026 with another eight episodes. Since the Game of Thrones prequel has been renewed for a fourth season, audiences can be satisfied in knowing that the drama will continue as House Targaryen falls and House Stark rises. In the meantime, if you're looking for more adventures within this world, check out A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. 'The Boys' Season 5 Likewise, The Boys may not be everyone's thing, but for those who enjoy this dark take on the world of superheroes by Eric Kripke, the good news is that the fifth and final season is coming very soon. Kripke has already ushered a warning that Season 5 will be the most brutal The Boys has ever been, and with that in mind, we can't even begin to imagine what the physical conflicts are going to look like leading toward the conclusion. There's a reason we consider this Prime Video thriller to be completely unpredictable. The Boys Season 5 will hit the streamer on April 8, 2026, with the first two episodes, with the rest of the season arriving on a weekly basis through the end of May. With all the anticipated action, the break in between episodes will give everyone time to recover, especially as viewers prepare for the end of this strange and violent saga. Well, it's not really the end, since the Vought Rising prequel is in the works.
