Some of the most memorable moments in the MonsterVerse were directly inspired by Toho’s Godzilla movies. For the most part, the MonsterVerse has forged its own path with Godzilla, turning a creature born from an atom bomb into an ancient force of nature. But while its take on Godzilla and the concept of the Titans in general are inventions of the MonsterVerse, it’s worth noting that Legendary’s movies have actually pulled quite a lot from Toho’s films.
8 Godzilla’s Burning Form The plot of Godzilla vs. Destoroyah was centered around the idea that so much radiation was building up within Godzilla that he was going to explode Godzilla’s rising power was illustrated through his burning form, which is recognized by the fiery energy exuding from his body. Albeit under different circumstances, the MonsterVerse used the burning form in King of the Monsters’ ending, with Godzilla activating it to beat Ghidorah.
5 Kong Rips Off Mechagodzilla’s Head At the end of Godzilla vs. Kong, Kong flaunted his victory over the broken body of Mechagodzilla by ripping off the robot’s head and holding it up as a trophy. Kong removing the mecha-Titan’s head after beating him served as a tribute to the finale of Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. In Mechagodzilla’s debut movie in 1974, Godzilla and King Caesar’s team-up culminated in Godzilla winning the fight and destroying Mechagodzilla.
