From Halloween to Transformers, Jurassic Park/World to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, many franchises are more bad than good when it comes to sequels.
From Halloween to Transformers, many movie franchises are fondly remembered by viewers despite having more bad entries than good movies to their name. It is undeniably hard to keep a franchise afloat. In particular, it is hard for studios to keep open-ended franchises with no planned ending feeling fresh.
9 Transformers While director Michael Bay did get a lot of hate in the ‘00s, there is no denying that the infamous helmer can pull off a fun action comedy. 2007’s Transformers utilized a young Shia LaBeouf’s charisma to ground a story about fighting robot aliens, and the Spielberg-esque charm of the movie’s coming-of-age story made up for its problems.
5 Rambo While Quentin Tarantino is right to note that Rambo: First Blood should have kept the book’s bleak ending, the movie is still a compelling portrait of a troubled veteran reshaped by the horrors of war. 2008's reboot Rambo is a bloodier, more bombastic effort, but it comes even closer to capturing Rambo’s tragic essence.
