Best Buy is currently running a Fourth of July sale, which includes some good deals for gaming. This includes discounts on games like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which don't typically get as steep of discounts in digital stores, as well as some accessories.
If you're looking for some new gaming hardware, now might be a good time to check out the discounts that the store is running to see if you can get what you need cheaper than usual. Even though there are some good deals on larger items, I tried to stick mostly to games here. The sale is worth checking out if you're in the market for a new PC or laptop, but since a less significant portion of players are likely looking to grab a big-ticket item on a whim for a weekend sale, knowing what games are on sale seems more useful to a wider range of readers. That said, I did include a few accessories that I think are worth considering given their steep discounts. 10 It Takes Two Is A Stellar Co-Op Experience It Takes Two Is $19.99 During Best Buy's Sale 6 Images 6 Images Close It Takes Two Action Adventure Systems Released March 26, 2021 9/10 Powered by Expand Collapse If you plan to spend part of the long weekend playing a game with a friend or partner, then It Takes Two is the perfect choice. This award-winning game is perfect for a couch co-op experience, since it requires strong teamwork. That said, it works well online too if you don't have the option to play in-person, and the game comes with a Friend's Pass that lets whoever you choose to play with download the game for free. Related It Takes Two Switch Review: A Decent Port of a Beloved Title In It Takes Two players work with a partner to navigate a vibrant, goofy world. Besides its limited graphics, the title plays well on the Switch. Posts While It Takes Two is on sale several places right now, Best Buy's Fourth of July sale - which ends Sunday, July 6, 2025 - is a good option if you want a physical copy of the game. At $19.99, It Takes Two costs the same from Best Buy as the digital version on the Nintendo Switch, and is just slightly more expensive than the Steam version. If you haven't played this 2021 Game of the Year winner, then I recommend giving it a shot. 9 Assassin's Creed Mirage Is Reminiscent Of Classic Assassin's Creed Games Assassin's Creed Mirage Is $19.99 During Best Buy's Sale Assassin's Creed Mirage OpenCritic Reviews Top Critic Avg: 76/100 Critics Rec: 73% Powered by Expand Collapse If you're a fan of the older Assassin's Creed games, but haven't liked the newer ones as much, you may want to check out Assassin's Creed Mirage. It puts a heavier emphasis on stealth, and has a more compact map than games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla. If you're a console player, this sale is also a perfect opportunity to get the game at a very nice discount. Assassin's Creed Mirage is currently on sale at Best Buy for $19.99, which is $30 cheaper than either the digital PlayStation or Xbox store. PlayStation's July sale is currently happening, and the game isn't discounted there, so this is a good opportunity to get the PS5 version on sale. You can get the game for the same price on Steam, but if you only have a console, or you prefer a physical game, then Best Buy's sale is a good option for you. 8 Star Wars: Jedi Survivor Was A Solid Second Installment To Its Trilogy Star Wars: Jedi Survivor Is $29.99 During Best Buy's Sale Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Action-Adventure Soulslike Sci-Fi Systems Released April 28, 2023 Powered by Expand Collapse Cal Kestis' sophomore outing, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, was just as good as, if not better than, its predecessor. The game has a larger scale, which can be polarizing, but I appreciated it since Jedi: Fallen Order felt a little short to me. Although The Rise of Skywalker has made me cautious about evaluating any Star Wars trilogy before completion, lest the final installment is so bad it retroactively makes the previous installments feel worse, I would still say it's worth giving Star Wars Jedi: Survivor a try. Now is a good time for console owners to grab Star Wars Jedi: Surivor, since Best Buy is offering a pretty significant discount. The game is still $69.99 on PlayStation and Xbox, but you can get it for $29.99 at Best Buy this weekend. I will say, this game is also available through PlayStation Plus Extra or EA Play, so it might not be worth grabbing if you are a subscriber to either service, unless you want to own the game outright. 7 Dragon Age: The Veilguard Deluxe Edition Is Steeply Discounted Dragon Age: The Veilguard Deluxe Edition Is $29.99 During Best Buy's Sale Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Action-Adventure Soulslike Sci-Fi Systems Released April 28, 2023 Powered by Expand Collapse Dragon Age: The Veilguard was a bit polarizing, receiving a mixture of fair and unfair criticism. That said, even if you were disappointed in the departure in form from the older Dragon Age games, there's a lot to like about the game's combat system. Although I also would've preferred a narrative style that was more in line with earlier games in the series, I was still able to enjoy the game's action, and it's honestly the perfect kind of game to buy on sale. Related Other Games Have A Lot To Learn From Dragon Age: The Veilguard On Game Pass Dragon Age: The Veilguard is coming to Game Pass, and that's a very smart move from EA which other companies should follow if their games did poorly. Posts 6 Being completely honest, I wouldn't pay Dragon Age: The Veilguard's full $69.99 price tag on the PlayStation store, and I certainly wouldn't pay for the $89.99 Deluxe Edition which charges an additional $20 for purely cosmetic items. However, getting the Deluxe Edition for $29.99 as part of Best Buy's sale seems like a much more appropriate price for the game. If you've been curious to check it out, but didn't want to pay full price, now is the perfect time to snag a copy of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. 6 Star Wars Outlaws Is Worth Buying Star Wars Outlaws Is $29.99 During Best Buy's Sale Star Wars Outlaws Open-World Action-Adventure Systems 8/10 7.5/10 Released August 30, 2024 ESRB T For Teen // Violence, Simulated Gambling, Mild Language Powered by Expand Collapse Like Dragon Age, Star Wars Outlaws is a game I would strongly recommend buying on sale. Although my initial impressions of Star Wars Outlaws were very positive, my enthusiasm did start to wane a bit as my playthrough went on. That said, it's still one of the only recent open-world Ubisoft games that I didn't put down after just a few hours, and I still enjoyed it a lot more than a lot of recent Star Wars media. If you enjoy lower-stakes Star Wars stories that focus on the galaxy's seedy underbelly, you'd probably enjoy this game. Star Wars Outlaws is on sale at Best Buy for $29.99, which is $40 cheaper than on PlayStation or Xbox's digital marketplaces. Although you can also get the game's Gold Edition for $40 off at Best Buy, I would stick to buying the base game. Although the Gold Edition comes with all the DLC, you aren't getting a steeper discount than on the base game, and you can always decide to get the DLC later if you like it without having to pay the same price upfront. 5 GameSir Super Nova Wireless Controller Is A Budget Alternative To Switch 2 Controllers GameSir Super Nova Wireless Controller Is $29.99 During Best Buy's Sale Close The GameSir Super Nova is a wireless controller that works with a variety of different platforms. One thing that caught my attention is that it is compatible with the Switch 2. Since I don't really feel like spending between $80 and $95 on another Switch 2 controller, grabbing a GameSir for only $29.99 seems like a great deal. I also appreciate controllers that work on multiple platforms, since I can get a lot more use out of them. Related Nintendo Switch 2 Is Going Up For Sale Again, But You’ll Need To Act Fast The Nintendo Switch 2 will be available for sale at Walmart tonight, but you will have to be fast and a Plus member to grab one, most likely. Posts I will admit, having grown up with N64 controllers, I'm not all that picky about a controller so long as it's functional. That said, the reviews on the GameSir Super Nova from Best Buy's website do seem to agree with me that it's a viable alternative, especially at its price point. If you want a couple extra controllers to use for Mario Kart World, or really any multiplayer game on any console, I would recommend checking this one out. 4 The Hori Split Pad Compact Attachment Set Can Replace Your Drifting Joy-Cons The Hori Split Pad Compact Attachment Set Is $37.99 During Best Buy's Sale Close I've been dealing with some serious stick drift on my original Switch Joy-Cons, but seeing as the official ones still cost $80 eight years later, I've been looking for a good alternative. The Hori Split Pad Compact - while not as good as the company's Pro version - is a good alternative to a traditional Joy-Con. The controllers are a bit wider, which makes them a bit less cramped. If you get it with the Attachment Set, you can use it as a wired controller if you want to play in console mode and your controllers are dead. The Hori Split Pad Compact Attachment Set is typically $79.99, the same as buying the official Joy-Cons for the original Switch. However, the set is currently on sale at Best Buy for only $37.99, making it a much better deal. If you need to replace your old Switch controllers, and don't want to pay full price, this is a good alternative. 3 Insignia Essential PC Gaming Chair Is Surprisingly Comfortable Insignia Essential PC Gaming Chair Is $99.99 During Best Buy's Sale Close I've seen a lot of people warn against buying a"gaming" chair, claiming that they are typically just over-stylized office chairs that tend to be less comfortable. Although I can't speak for every model of gaming chair, the Insignia Essential PC Gaming Chair is just as comfortable as a traditional office chair, and it offers a good amount of back support. If you spend a lot of time gaming, or writing, or writing about gaming, then you'll want a nice chair and I do think this one is a good option. Typically, this chair costs $179.99, but it is currently only $99.99, or nearly 50% off. If you're unsure whether this chair is for you, some Best Buys do have certain chairs available to test in store, though there is no guarantee your local store will have this exact model. However, if you're already there picking up something else that's part of the current sale, I'd say it's at least worth seeing if you can test one of these out, and if it's right for you. 2 God of War Ragnarök Is One Of The Best Games In Its Series God of War Ragnarök Is $39.99 During Best Buy's Sale God of War Ragnarök Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment Genre Action-adventure See at Amazon Expand Collapse Going into God of War Ragnarök, I was hesitant if it could live up to the high expectations I had for it following the series' total reinvention with 2018's God of War. Not only did God of War Ragnarök live up to my expectations, it managed to surpass them and become my favorite of the two games. The game's combat is difficult enough that it doesn't feel like a mindless hack-and-slash game, but it also empowers you to pull off some seriously impressive combos and feel like the powerful god you're playing as. God of War Ragnarök is currently $69.99 on the PlayStation store, but you can get the PS5 version at Best Buy for only $39.99. This is also cheaper than Steam, which is currently selling the game for $47.99. If you're a long-time fan of the series, it may also be nice to get a physical copy of the game to add to your collection. 1 Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Is A True Next-Gen Platformer Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Is $29.99 During Best Buy's Sale Close When Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart first came out in 2021, many heralded it as one of the first games that felt like it was truly designed for the new generation of consoles. As I, like many players, had trouble finding a PS5 at the time, it was a title that I was eagerly looking forward to trying out when I eventually got my hands on one. Both the presentation and the gameplay still hold up, and if you're looking for a great 3D Action Platformer to hold you over until Donkey Kong Bananza drops, this is a good option. Related Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Is The Wrong Game For The Series’ PC Debut Though the Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart PC port is welcomed by many, it is not a good game to start with, lacking context and character development. Posts Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is $40 cheaper at Best Buy, selling for $29.99, whereas it is $69.99 on the PlayStation store. It is also on sale on Steam for the same price right now, where it usually costs $59.99.
