Though the Infinity Saga is over and Thanos' terror is done, these quotes remind everyone of the Mad Titan's reign in the MCU as a powerful villain.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Thanos has had plenty of iconic, menacing quotes from his time as the MCU’s main villain. The MCU's version of Thanos was first introduced in a mid-credits scene at the end of The Avengers. Though it was only a brief cameo, this was only the beginning of Thanos’ reign in the MCU.
2 "Perfectly Balanced As All Things Should Be." When Thanos started his conquest across the universe, one of the planets that he executed his plan on was Zen-Whoberi. The planet was home to a young Gamora, who caught Thanos’ attention when she stood up to a Chitauri soldier. Thanos would go on to recruit her and raise Gamora as his own daughter. When Thanos initially took Gamora aside, he showed her a switchblade that balanced on his finger, using it as a metaphor for the universe.
One of the Infinity Stones that Thanos needed was the Soul Stone being kept on Vormir. In order to get the stone, the individual needed to sacrifice someone they loved. Gamora was initially amused by Thanos’ plan, but her adoptive father seemed genuine as he said his last words to her. Though Thanos did mourn Gamora, it was definitely a decision he would’ve made again if it meant receiving the Soul Stone, which highlights just how far he was truly willing to go in order to achieve his goals.
5 "In All My Years Of Conquest, Violence, Slaughter, It Was Never Personal. But I'll Tell You Now, What I'm About To Do To Your Stubborn, Annoying Little Planet, I'm Going To Enjoy It. Very, Very Much." Though Thanos definitely had some personal bloodlust, it was never the basis of his quest. His execution of populations was in his mind for the betterment of the universe, and there was never any personal vendetta that he was trying to settle.
The most memorable instance of Thanos uttering this quote was in the final Battle for Earth. Facing off against Iron Man, Thanos told Tony that he was inevitable before snapping the Infinity Gauntlet and wiping out Earth for good. However, his supposed destiny was denied when Tony took the Infinity Stones and snapped his own gauntlet. Not only does this quote summarize how Thanos views himself, but a nice bonus is that it sets up an iconic Iron Man quote too.
8 "You Could Not Live With Your Own Failure. Where Did That Bring You? Back To Me." The Avengers’ fight against Thanos’ quest culminated in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. There looked to be a promising plan in Infinity War, but the Mad Titan ended up coming out on top regardless. To this day, one of the most shocking moments in the MCU was when half of the beloved Avengers were turned into dust after Thanos’ Snap.
