He feels like a completely different character, someone who has experienced and overcame hardship to become a hero in a time when he is needed the most. Hamill's performance was spectacular and the best of the trilogy, reaching new emotional heights by forgiving Darth Vader.
4 'The Big Red One' Directed by Samuel Fuller Close The Big Red One is a relatively unheard-of movie produced on a low budget that never received widespread recognition. The film takes the audience through a journey of a group of soldiers through World War II, where they travel to North Africa and Sicily, take part in the D-Day attacks, and liberate a concentration camp. The film is based on director Samuel Fuller's experience in the war, with the title being his division.
Despite being known for creating the series, George Lucas only directed the first Star Wars, a masterpiece that is still one of the best movies. Hamill makes his live-action debut, and while he is a little rough around the edges, his performance still encapsulates a young, out-of-element kid who is having trouble accepting who he is. Nothing needs to be said about A New Hope, as it tells a balanced story of good versus evil while creating an interesting world and memorable characters.
