A Friday afternoon, multi-vehicle crash that forced the closure of the northbound lanes of Interstate 65 in Autauga County claimed the life of one and injured multiple others,

First responders found two victims in critical condition, one in serious condition, and others with minor injuries. Among the trapped was a critically injured child who, after being freed from the wreckage, was rushed to an area hospital where they died from their injuries. The northbound lanes of the interstate were closed, and southbound traffic saw major delays while first responders were on the scene. Traffic was backed up for miles on the northbound side, with commuters being redirected onto U.S. Highway 31 at Exit 186.
